Deewangee was a romantic thriller released on October 25, 2002 under the banner of Neha Arts. The movie was directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Nitin Manmohan. The important roles in the movie were played by Ajay Devgan, Urmila Matondkar, Akshaye Khanna and Farida Jalal while the supporting roles were played by Tiku Talsania and Suhasini Mulay. Music of the film was directed by Ismail Darbar and the songs were sung by Mahalaxmi Iyer, Jaspinder Narula, Babul Supriyo, Sunidhi Chauhan and Udit Narayan.

There had been several romantic thrillers produced in the Bollywood every now and while and Deewangee was also one of them. The story revolves around criminal lawyer Raj Goyal ( Akshaye khanna )  who is the ideal of justice. He is as much in ounishing the guilty as in protecting the innocent people. He was so much occupied in his work that he had no time for love. But he soon found himself attracted towards Sargam ( Urmila Matondkar ) a famous singer with several hits under her name.

Raj comes across Tarang Bharadwaj ( Ajay Devgan ) through Sargam, who is a talented and a gifted musician and Sargam’s childhood friend and mentor. A famous music celebrity Ashwin Mehta ( Vijendra Ghatge ) was found murdered in Tarang’s house with several wounds and Tarang was found guilty for this. Sargam believes her friend Tarang and asks her friend Raj to defend him for what he has not done. To defend him Raj was required to find the real killer.
