Bollywood patriotic hit movie, Desh Premee, directed by Manmohan desai was released on April 23, 1982. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini in lead roles while Naveen Nishchol, Parveen Babi, Sharmila Tagore, Shammi Kapoor, Parikshit Sahni, Prem Nath, Uttam Kumar, Kadar Khan, Jeevan, Amjad Khan and Prem Chopra also played important roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was directed by well known music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Amit Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Laxmikant etc. The movie did well among audiences and won good reviews from critics as well.The movie starts with a freedom fighter named Master Dinanath ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who fight against Britishers and won independence in the year 1947. But after independence, Masterji, sees some rich people desiring to rule the poor people just like britishers did. Dinanath finds out that a rich businessmen named Thakur Pratap Singh ( Amjad Khan ) is performing some illegal activities like weapons smuggling etc. Dinanath speaks this to Police and Thaku is arrested by them. But soon he comes out of Jail and orders his hitman Sher Singh ( Kadar Khan ) for kidnapping Dinantha’s wife Bharti ( Sharmila Tagore ) and daughter Preeti ( Parveen Babi ). after this, Thakur also proves in front of the villagers that Dinanath has betrayed his country.Villagers attacks on his home, and Dinanath is forced to leave his house alongwith his young son, Raju. Dinantha recieves the news regarding his wife and daughter’s death. Dinanatha and Raju takes shelter in a slum named Bharat Nagar, which is divided into four groups by four dons. All the four dons, settles their disputes and convinces Dinanath to stay there. The only reason they asked him to stay there is that they wants to cover their illegal activities under the roof of Dinanath’s name. Years later, Raju ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who is totally different in nature with his father, gets indulge in illegal activities.The hit songs of the movie are:1.
