Bollywood movie, Dev, written and directed by Govind Nihalani was released on 11 June 2004. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles while Om Puri and Amrish Puri also played significant roles in the film. The movie was distributed under the banner of Times Music and Udbhav Productions. The soulful music of the film was given by Aadesh Shrivastav and the songs were sung by Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam, Aadesh Srivastava, Asha Bhonsle, Abhijeet, Shraddha Pandit and Vijeyta Pandit. The movie failed to do well at the box office but won many critical accliams from audiences as well as from the critics.

The movie starts with an honest police officer, JCP Dev Pratap Singh ( Amitabh Bachchan ). His collegue, Tejinder Khosla aka Tej ( Om Puri ) is also a police officer and the best friend of him. On the otherhand, Farhaan Ali ( Fardeen Khan ) is a simple and sweet guy who is in love witha abeautiful girl, Aaliya ( Kareena Kapoor ). Problem actually starts when Farhaan’s father is murdered. Though his father taught him the lesson of non-voilence, Farhaan simply choose to go on the voilence to take his revenge.

He wants to take revenge from Dev, who was somehow indirectly involved with the death of his father. Some corrupt ministers uses the situations and break out roits over the Farhaan’s deed. Now, Dev and Tej have the responsiblity to deal with these difficult situations in their own ways. Farhaan’s issue causes a break in their friendship. Farhaan’s love, Aaliya also ends up becoming a victim of the rioters. How Dev and Tej will stop these roits? How they will overcome with this difficult situation?
