Bollywood romantic movie, Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, written and directed by Raj Kanwar was released on 17 October 2000. The movie starred Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles while Sonali Bendre, Amrish Puri and Anupam Kher also played significant characters in the film. Aishwarya’s ex-boyfriend Salman Khan was also seen in a cameo appearance in the film. The hit music of the film was given by Jatin Lalit and the songs were sung by Sudesh Bhonsle, Kay Kay, Anuradha Paudwal and Babul Supriyo. Though the movie failed to do well at the box office but its music was highly appreciated by the audience.

The movie starts with an Army Captain Karan Khanna ( Abhishek Bachchan ), who is on a leave and returning to his lady love to express his feeling for her. At the station, he saves a beautiful girl named Sahiba Grewal ( Aishwarya Rai ) from some criminals. Sahiba tells him that she has lied to her father that she is already married as she wanted to avoid an arranged marraige. But now she is finding it difficult to face her father and tell him the truth. Karan tells her that he will chat with her fatheron behalf of her.

They reach at Sahiba’s home where Karan is mistaken for Sahiba’s husband. Sahiba’s father, Yogi Grewal ( Amrish Puri ) also forgives her. But the problem is for Karan, who wants to go back to her girl Nisha ( Sonali Bendre ) as early as possible. Finally he decides to leave. At that time only, Sahiba expresses her love to him but he leaves anyway. Karan meets with her love Nisha only to find that she has already married now. Now Karan realise that Sahiba is his true love and he should not have left her.
