Bollywood action thriller, Dharam Kanta, directed by Sultan Ahmed and written by Bharat Bhalla was released in the year 1982. The movie starred Jeetendra, Raaj Kumar and Waheeda Rehman in lead roles while Rajesh Khanna, Reena Roy, Anjad Khan, Shatrughan Sinha, Om Prakash, Satyendra Kapoor and Nasir Hussain also played important roles in the film. The music of the movie was directed by the very famous legendary msuic director Naushad while the songs were rendered by Moahmmed Rafi, Bhupendra Singh, Asha Bhonsle, Sulakshana Pandit etc.

The movie starts with Thakur Bhavani Singh ( Raaj Kumar ), who is the head of a group of dacaits. He is the other name of terror in the region. Bhavani’s family comprises of his wife, Radha Singh ( Waheeda Rehman ), two sons, Ram ( Rajesh Khanna ) and Lakshman ( Jeetendra ) and a daughter, Ganga ( Heena Kausar ). Bhavani abducts the son of a wealthy perosn named Harnam Singh and demands hefty ransom. Harnam agrees to play the rnsom money but unfortunately his son is killed.

Bhavani get separated from his family because of natural disaster and is caught by police. He is sentenced to prison for a long time. On the otherhand, Ram and Lakshman are abducted by two bandits and they trains them to become dacaits like them. Ganga is adopted by none other than Harnam Singh. Years later, Ram and Lakshman are deadly criminals now. Bhavani is released from the jail and decides to search for his family.
