Bollywood family drama, Dharam Karam, directed by Randhir Kapoor and written by Prayag Raj was released on December 1, 1975. The movie starred Raj Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Rekha in lead roles while pinchoo Kapoor, Premnath, Satyajeet Puri, Urmila bhatt, Dara Singh, Rajan Kapoor, Alka and Narendra nath also played significant characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were crooned by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Shankar Dada ( Premnath ) is a criminal but wants his son to be a a decent and good human being. Shankar performs robbery at another criminal, J.K. ( Pinchoo Kapoor ) and is now on a run for saving his life from J.K. goons. J.K. tries to abduct his on but Shankar comes at the right time and switches one his child with the child of a renowned stage artsist named Ashok Kumar ( Raj Kapoor ). Shankar fights with the goons of J.K. and ends up killing one of them. He is arrested by police and is sentenced to jail for 14 years.

Shankar’s first son, Dharam ( Randhir Kapoor ) is brought up by a wrestler named Bheem Singh ( Dara Singh ). Bheem wants Dharam to be a hoodloom but Dharam wants to be a singer by profession. Shankar’s second son, Ranjeet ( Randhir Kapoor ) takes alochol and other bad activities in a big way and ends up becoming a criminal.
