Bollywood crime drama, Dharavi, written and directed by Sudhir Mishra was released in the year 1992. The movie starred Om Puri and Shabana Azmi in lead roles while Madhuri Dixit, Pramod Bhalla, Anjana, Mushtaq Khan, Deepak Qazir, Raghuvir Yadav, Veerendra Saxena and Satish Khopkar also played important roles in the film. The music of the movie was composed by the music director Rajat Dholakia while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan etc.

The movie starts with the slum named Dharavi, where many people are living in poverty and bad conditions. Raj Kiran ( Om Puri ) is a taxi driver by profession and is living in the slum of Dharavi. He lives alongwith his wife, Kumud ( Shabana Azmi ) and a son. He arranges for the electricity in his home through illegal means like every other person of the slum has done. Raj Kiran dreams of buying his won taxi one day. His mother, Amma ( Anjana ) also come to live alongwith him and his family. But conditions becomes worse when Raj Kiran’s taxi is taken away from him.

Amma inquires him that Kumud is having an affair with her ex-husband, Shankar ( Mushtaq Khan ). Raj Kiran robs a guy and is arrested by police. He is sent to jail. His mother also decides to go back to her home town. Kumud leaves him and goes back to her ex-husband, Shankar. Raj Kiran comes out of the jail after completing his prison time. Now he has to starts everything from zero.
