The social movie Dharm was released on June 8, 2007 and was directed by Bhavna Talwar. The movie was earlier thought to be titled as Kartikey and has been produced by Sheetal Vinod Talwar. The lead roles in the film have been played by Pankaj KapoorHrishita Bhatt and Supriya Pathak while , K K Raina, Ananya Tripathi and Krish Parekh also played important roles. The music of the film was directed by Debajyoti Mishra and the songs were sung by Sonu Nigam, Sayed Ambrish and Aanchal.

As the name of the movie suggests, the movie Dharm is something related to our religion and also raises few serious issues on it. Dharm is really a great movie that based on religious harmony talks about religion and parent child bond. Also this movie is sure to make you think and touch your heart. What’s important to notify is that this film was selected for screening in the recently held Cannes Film Festival. The story of the movie revolves around Pandit Ram Narayan Chaturvedi ( Pankaj Kapur ) living in Benaras.

Ram Narayan is a Hindu priest who follows his religion cautiously and loves to follow his religion with pride. He follows the rituals defined for his religion and feels that Brahmin is being the superior human caste. He spends his time in performing daily prayers. One day he meets a child that shakes the roots of his beliefs which he had been following from the last thirty years. A muslim woman left a child at her dorr and his wife ( Supriya Pathak ) gives her shelter. Gradually the child wins over their hearts including the heart of the priest. The movie takes a turn when a Muslim woman, child’s mother, returns to claim her child.
