The romantic drama Dil Pardesi Ho Gayaa was released on December 12, 2003 under the banner of Saawan Kumar Productions. The movie was directed and produced by Sawan Kumar Tak. The significant roles in the movie were enacted by Kapil Jhaveri, Ashutosh Rana, Saloni Aswani and Prem Chopra while supporting roles were played by Amrish Puri and Raza Murad. Music of the film was directed by Usha Khanna and the songs were sung by Priya Bhattacharya, Sudesh Bhosle, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan and Sonu Nigam.

There have been several movie produced in the past that explores the Indo-Pak relations but this movie Dil Pardesi Ho Gayaa is somewhat different from them. Though this movie also deals with the relationships among the two countries but it does it in a polite manner. It is more of a love story but is different from the hit movie Gadar. While Prem Chopra plays the role of a Pakistani religious extremist, Mukesh Rishi plays the character of a killer. Director of the movie also takes the credit of writing the lyrics for the film.

The story of the movie is a love story between an Indian boy and a Pakistani girl played by newcomers Kapil Jhaveri and Saloni Aswani. Indian army officer ( Ashutosh Rana ) is taken as a prisoner by the Pakistani officers. His younger brother Sunny ( Kapil Jhaveri ) wants to rescue him and thus lands up in Pakistan. He come across a Pakistani girl Rukhsar ( Saloni Aswani ) trapped in the fire while saving the life of a child. He saves both and this deed impresses her. Both decide to marry each other but the twist in the story comes when he tells her his real story.
