Dobara was a special movie for the producer-director Shashi Ranjan as he made his debut with this film. He had a good story for the movie but the pace of the film was responsible for it not doing well. It is a story about Ranbir ( Jackie Shroff ) who loved Ria ( Raveena Tandon ) and was involved in a relationship with her but it was all till the day she didn’t lose her mental balance and was required to move to an institution. Now Ranbir found his happiness in her wife Anjali ( Mahima Choudhary ). Everything was fine for them till one day he received a phone call from Ria.

Ria tells Ranbir about their son and asked him to take her to Goa to celebrate her son’s birthday. Ranbir agrees and takes her to Goa through jeep. On their way, they started sharing their pasts and the reasons that separated them. Anjali suspects Ranbir’s sudden trip to Goa and decides to take a plane to Goa. On the plane she comes across a man who helps her to see things in a different manner. The emotional threads attached to Ranbir urge him to break his marriage with Anjali.
