Bollywood movie, Don, directed by Chandra Barot was released on 20 April 1978. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman in lead roles while Pran and Helen played an important role too in the movie. The evergreen hit music of the film was given by Kalyanji-Anandji. Amitabh played double role in the movie, one of the underworld don and other of a street singer. Asha Bhonsle won a Filmfare award for the song ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ picturised on Helen. Another bollywood singer Kishore Kumar also won a Filmfare award for the song ‘Khaike Paan Banaraswala’.

The movie starts with Don ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who is the leader of an underworld gang. Police Officer D’Silva ( Iftekhar ) is after him. Roma ( Zeenat Aman ) is the sister of Ramesh ( who has worked with Don in past and brutally killed by him on refusing to go back again in his gang). Kamini ( Helen ), who is the faincee of Ramesh, tries to have the police arrest Don. But in the process she loses her life. Now Roma, who is trained in judo and karate, enters Don’s gang for getting the revenge of his brother’s death from Don.

D’Silva finally succeeds in trapping Don but he somehow managed to escape from there. D’Silva run after him and found him dead because of his bullet. D’Silva then encounters with Vijay, who bears a striking resemblance to Don. D’Silva plans to transform Vijay into Don as only he knows that the real Don is dead. He places Vijay back into the crime nexus as Don but this time as a police informer. What happens next is worth watching. How Vijay helps D’Silva and protect himself from Roma’s revenge etc keeps the movie in a interesting mode.
