Door Desh was a social movie released in 1983. The movie was directed by Ambrish Singal and produced by Jagdish Bahroos and Shamim. The actors in the lead roles were Shashi Kapoor, Raj Babbar, Parveen Babi and Sharmila Tagore while the roles of Nadeem, David and Babita were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Usha Khanna while the songs were sung by K J Yesudas, Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Anwar.

Door Desh was a social film that raises the social issues of the modern society. The story of the movie revolves mostly around a guy named Raju ( Raj Babbar ) who is an American-Indian living with his mother Shobha ( Sharmila Tagore ). He was happy with his family but the only thing that concerned him the most was that he hated his father for having an illicit affair with an East Indian woman named Rita. He also disliked his secretary, Nancy who was also the reason why his father separated with Shobha.

The movie progresses and Raju matures with time. One day Shobha tells him that her Canadian friend’s daughter has been kidnapped by some Ontario Kidnappers. She was the daughter of her only father, so to assist him, they travel to Toronto. Raju seeks the help of Renu ( Parveen Babi ), a gangster who betrays him by telling the names of wrong kidnappers. The movie takes a turn when the wrong kidnappers were killed by the real Ontario Kidnappers. Raju was also shocked to know that his mother also had an affair with the girl’s father.
