Bollywood movie, Dosti, directed by Satyen Bose was released in the year 1964. The movie starred Sudhir Kumar and Sushil Kumar in lead roles while Sanjay Khan and Leela Chitnis also played important roles in the film. The movie was distributed under the banner of Rajshri Productions. The superhit music of the film was given by the famous music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal and the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar. The movie went on to do well the box office and received very good response from the critics as well.

The movie starts with Ramnath aka Ramu ( Sushil Kumar ), who is living with his mother after the death of his father. His mother also passes away after she get the information that the compensation will not be given to them for Ramu’s father death. Ramnath also loses his left leg in an accident. Now Ramu has no ther option left and he starts roaming the streets of Bombay city. He meets with a blind person named Mohan ( Sudhir Kumar ) and befriends him. Both of them paln to earn money by using their talents of harmonica playing and singing.

Both of them befriends a young girl named Manjula aka manju ( Farida ). But very soon the girl passes away. Mohan who is looking for her sister Meena ( Uma Rajoo ), finally meets her. Meena is working as a Nurse in a reputed hospital. But Meena refuses to accept Mohan as her brother as she does not want to be called the sister of a street beggar. On the other hand, Ramnath gets involved with a group of criminals and get arrested by Police while doing robbery with the group.
