The crime movie Dum was released on January 24, 2003 under the banner of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd. The movie was directed by E Niwas and produced by Karim Morani. The significant roles were enacted by Vivek Oberoi, Atul Kulkarni, Dia Mirza and Sushant Singh while roles of Mukesh Rishi and Govind Namdeo were also important. The music of the film was directed by Sandeep Chowta and the songs were sung by Soumya Raoh, Leslie Lewis, Jolly Mukherjee, Anuradha Sriram and Sandeep Chowta.

Dum was a crime movie that deals with the realities of the modern world. The story of the movie mostly revolves around Uday Shinde ( Vivek Oberoi ) who is an aspiring police officer whose biggest strengths are his values and morals. The movie is his test of charcter. A simple girl Kaveri ( Diya Mirza ) loves Uday as much as she loves her life. She is also his biggest support and encouragement. Shankar ( Atul Kulkarni ) plays a brutal cop whose life has been full of bitterness.

Raj Dutt Sharma ( Mukesh Rishi ) is another man of principles and morals and this is why he likes Uday due to his simplicity and ethics. Deshmukh ( Govind Namdeo ) is a corrupt politician who uses his powers for his benefits. The movie is about Uday who wanted to be a police officer and serve the nation with pride. On his road to success he faces opposition in face of Shankar who was against him. The movie shows the fight of a man for his rights and against the wrongs.
