Bollywood suspense action thriller, Ek Hasina Thi, written and directed by Sriram Raghavan was released on February 24, 2004. The movie starred Saif Ali Khan and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles while Aditya Srivastava, Seema Biswas, Rajendra sethi, Zakir Hussain, Rasika Oak, Madan Joshi, Seema Adhikari and Pratima Kazmi also played significant characters in the film. The music of the film was directed by the well known music director Amar Mohile while the songs were crooned by Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy etc. Actor Saif Ali Khan was in the role of the prime anagonist in the movie.

The movie starts with a beautiful girl named Sarika Vartak ( Urmila Matondkar ), who works and lives in Mumbai. She meets with a handsome and stylish guy Karan Singh Rathod ( Saif Ali Khan ). Soon they both falls in love with each other. However, none of the two are interested in knowing about the backgrounds of each other. Karan ask Sarika to deliver a parcel for him through Airline but she get arrested by police on doing so. She later finds out that the parcel actually consists of drugs. Karan meets her in the prison and convince her that there is a big misunderstanding and he also assures her that she will be out of the prison soon.

However, this does not happen at all and Sarika isproved guilty in front of the court. Sarika is sentenced to prison for a long time. After intial problems in the prison, Sarika decides to prepare herself against the ones who are responsible for bringing her in this state. She is determined to avenge the misdeed happened to her. She manage to escape from the prison. She first goes to meet Karan and get shocked to see Karan with some other girl. Sarika later realises that Karan was the real person who was behind the everything happened to her?
