Ek Nai Paheli was a family drama released on 29 June, 1984. The movie was directed by K Balachander and the producer of the movie was Subba Rao. The top roles in the movie were played by Raaj Kumar, Hema Malini, Kamal Hasan and Suresh Oberoi. Some nice roles were played by Johny Lever, Padmini Kohlapure, Rakesh Bedi and Asha Sachdev. The music directors of the movie were Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar and Kavita Krishnamurthy. The lyricist was Anand Bakshi.

The movie’s story is a bit twisted and kind of offbeat. In the movie Upedranath ( Raaj Kumar ) is a rich and valued figure the society. He lives with his son Sandeep ( Kamal Hassan ) who leaves his house when he comes to know that his dad is a terrorist. Bhairavi ( Hema Malini ), a popular singer finds him injured near the roadside and takes him home and treats him. Sandeep a very rude man by behavior now starts developing feelings for Bhairavi and she also shows interest. Soon they were in love.

Bhairavi tells him about her past that she had a marriage before with a guy named Avinash and also has a daughter Kajri. But Avinash ditched her and left. Sandeep now softens more and both were ready for marriage. The twist arise when Avinash returns and Sandeep and Avinash both find out that she’s actually having a relationship with Upendranath. What will they do? The movie was really confusing and kept the audiences interested though didn’t came out to be a very big hit.
