Yesteryear bollywood hit action thriller, Fakira, directed by C. P. Dixit and written by R. K. Banerjee was released in the year 1976. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor and Shabana Azmi in lead roles while Danny Denzongpa, Madan Puri, Asrani, Aruna irani, Iftekhaar, Achala Sachdev, Ramesh deo, Jagdish Raj and Asit Sen also played important roles in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the famous music director Ravindra jain while the songs were rendered by Mahendra Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Hemlata, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Vijay ( Shashi Kapoor ) and his younger brother, Ajay ( Danny Denzongpa ) get seperated in their childhood. Years later, Vijay is now famous with the nickname of Fakira. He robs the rich people to provide the goods from the poor. No one knows about his real identity and is assisted by his childhood friend, Poppat ( Asrani ) and a girl named Neelam ( Aruan Irani ), who is secretly in love with him. On the otherhand, Ajay is a criminal now famous with the nickname of Toofan, who works for the money only. Toofan is assigned the task of revealing the secret of Fakira. Vijay meets with a beautiful girl named Geeta ( Shabana Azmi ) and falls in love with her.

Geeta is actually the daughter of a police commissioner and is on the mission of arresting Fakira. Geeta learns about Vijay and falls in love with him. Toofan manage to learn about Fakira and tells this to the crimianl don, Chiman Lal ( Madan Puri ). Vijay is abducted by Toofan and Chiman lal’s mens and is thrown out in the sea with his hands and leags tied by a rope. Now will Vijay be able to survive from thsi certain death and if yes the how?
