The movie Farishta was a drama released on 23 March, 1984. The movie was produced and directed by Sunil Sikand. The lead roles in the movie were played by Danny Denzongpa, Ashok Kumar, Smita Patiland and Pran. Some other nice supporting roles were played by Mast Raju, Bharat Bhusan, Kanwaljeet singh and Azad. The music of the movie was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Amit Kumar and Anuradha Paudwal. The movie was edited by David Dhawan.

The movie opens with Rai Bahadur ( Ashok Kumar ), a very rich and powerful man in the society living in a huge house along with his grandson Raju ( Mast Raju ) and granddaughter Pinky. They all were living happily but all their joy vanishes when one night Raju is kidnapped ad no one is having any clues about him. Actually Raju was abducted by gangster Ustad ( Danny Denzongpa ) who forces children into theft and also begging. He trains Raju and now he was a perfect thief, looting people.

Years later, Pinky and Raju accidentally meet and Pinky recognizes Raju and convinces him about their relationship and takes him along to their Grandpa who is very happy to see Raju back again. The twist arises when some silver ornaments get stolen and Raju goes missing. The matter is sent police for investigation. Police finds some clues which were pointing against Raju. The question arises that is Raju the real grandson of Rai Bhahadur? If he is then is he the real thief? Where is Raju then?
