Farishtay was a patriotic action movie released on February 22, 1991 under the banner of S G S Films. The movie was directed by Anil Sharma. The lead roles in the movie were played by Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Sridevi and Jaya Prada. Other appreciable roles were played by Rajnikanth and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. The music of the movie was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Amit Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Alka Yagnik and Lata Mangeshkar. The lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

In the movie Raja Jaichand ( Sadashiv Amrapurkar ) is potrayed as a cruel dictator who rules a village and doesn’t believe in any type government other than his. Veeru ( Dhramendra ) and Dheeru ( Vinod Khanna ) are two musketeers who attract the attention of Raja who wants them to work for him. They move to the village where people are terrorized by Raja. There, they find a mentally ill girl and were shocked to see her in this state. The girl was actually their sister and she got in such a state after her husband’s ( Rajnikanth ) death at Raja’s hands.

Actually, Veeru and Dheeru were on a secret mission under the Police to destroy Raja’s empire. They take the help of a local girl Rasbhari ( Sridevi ) and soon Dheeru and Rasbhari were in love. How can it be possible that a bollywood movie doesn’t have a romantic touch? In the end they were successful in killing Raja as is obvious. The movie had some good real action. Dharmendra’s presence made the movie all the more well. Special guest appearances were given by Jaya Pradha, Jankidas and Dev Kumar.
