Bollywood action thriller, Farz - In The Line of Fire, directed by Raj Kanwar was released on January 12, 2001. The movie starred Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in lead roles while Jackie Shroff, Pooja Batra, Om Puri, Johnny Lever, Mukesh Tiwari, Dara Singh and Farida Jalal also played important characters in the film. The melodious hit music of the movie was directed by the well known music director Uttam Kumar while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Jaspinder Narula, Kumar Sanu etc.

The movie starts with Assistant Comissioner Of Police Arjun Singh ( Om Puri ), who lives alongwith his wife, son Rahul and a beautiful daughter named Kaajal ( Preity Zinta ). Then enters another police officer named Karan Singh ( Sunny Deol ), who is famous for his controversial methods of doing justice. He is assigned as the new partner of Arjun Singh. Karan meets with Kaajal and soon they both falls in love with each other. Soon they both get married to each other. However, Arjun is not happy with their marraige.

Karan’s investigation takes him to the terrorist Gawa Firozi ( Jackie Shroff ). But in the process of catching him, he ends up killing Gawa’s younger brother, Sikander ( Mukesh Tiwari ). Gawa is then arrested by Karan and is sentenced to prison. But while trasferring Gawa to jail, he tries to escape from there and asa result the police van meets with an accident. It is assumed that Gawa is dead now. But Gawa is still alive and is planning a dangerous game to play with Karan which will end with his death only.
