Bollywood movie, Gaman, directed by Muzaffar Ali and written by Hriday Lani was released in the year 1978. The movie starred Nana Patekar and Smita Patil in lead roles while Jala Agha, Farooq Sheikh, Geeta Siddharth and Sulabha Deshpande also played significant characters in the film. The hit music of the movie was composed by the well known music director Jaidev Verma while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Ghulam Hussain ( Farooq Sheikh ) lives a poor lifestyle alongwith his mother and wife. He decides to relocate to Bombay in order to improve their lifestyle. He moves to Bombay leaving behind his mother and wife, Khairun ( Smita Patil ). In Bombay he meets with his close friend named Lalulal Tiwari ( Jalal Agha ). Lalu helps him getting the job of driving Taxis. But the problem is that he is unable to earn the sufficient money through this work so that he can save some money to send Lucknow.

His friend Laluram has also the same problem. Despite being present for a long time in the city, he is still unable to rent an apartment for getting settled with his girlfriend, Yasodhara ( Geeta Siddharth ). Ghulam and lalu deicdes to work more harder so that they can fullfill their wishes but nothing works. Will they ever be able to make a better living for thmeselves in the city or not?
