Bollywood drama flick, Garam Hawa, directed by M. S. Sathyu and written by Kaifi Azmi was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Balraj Sahni and Gita Siddharth in lead roles while Farooq Sheikh, Jamal Hashmi, A. K. Hangal, Vikas Anand, Shaukat Azmi, Kalapana Sahni, Shaukat Azmi and Dinanath Zutshi also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the music directors Aziz Ahmed, Khan Warsi and Ustad Bahadur Khan in collaborationw hile the songs were rendered by Ustad Bahadur Khan, Aziz Ahmed, Khan Warsi etc.

The movie is all about India-Pakistan seperation and the affect that had on the people. The story of the family revolves around a family headed by Salim Mirza ( Balraj Sahni ). His family comprises of his wife, Amina ( Gita Siddharth ), younger brother, Sikander ( Farooq Sheikh ) and his children. What problem this family faces after the separation of India and Pakistan is the real story of the movie. Balraj Sahni is as usual awesome with this acting while Farooq Sheikh and Gita Siddharth provided the needed support to Balraj with their excellent acting performances in the film.
