The fantasy movie Gayab was released on July 16, 2004 under the banners of K Sera Sera and Varma Corporation Ltd. The movie was directed by Prawaal Raman and produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The significant roles were enacted by Tusshar Kapoor, Govind Namdeo, Antra Mali and Raghuveer Yadav while Raman Trikha and Rasika Joshi were also there in the film. Music of the film was directed by Amar Mohile and the songs were sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Shweta Pandit, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam and Vinod Rathod.

Gayab may resemble or make you think about the movies like Mr. India or the Hollow Man but surely it is not the remake of any of them. Director Prawaal Raman last produced the movie Darna Mana Hai and returned with a different theme film Gayab under the Varma Corporation Ltd. The story of the movie Gayab revolves around a simple guy Vishnu Prasad ( Tusshar Kapoor ) with no fake identity in this modern world. He is living his life like a loser and lacks the confidence that is why he is struggling to get a decent job.

Everything was going against Vishnu and it seems that he has that something which attracts the problems for him. Adding to his problems was his mother ( Rasika Joshi ) who always kept him scolding and beating for even a slight mistake. His father ( Raghuveer Yadav ) also had fear of her mother and thus always have to agree with her. He loved his neighbor Mohini ( Antra Mali ) who even didn’t know about his existence. She has a boyfriend ( Ramman Trikha ) who dislikes him and want to break his bones.
