Musical bollywood movie, Geet, directed by Ramanand Sagar was released in the year 1970. the movie starred Rajendra Kumar and Mala Sinha in lead roles while Sujit Kumar, Nasir Hussain, Kumkum and Daisy Irani also played important characters in the film. The evergreen hit music of the film was given by veteran music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji while the songs were sung Mohammed Rafi, Mahendra Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie did well at the box office and went to become one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with Kamla ( Mala Sinha ), who is a famous stage singer. She is living a wealthy lifestyle with her dad, Dindayal ( Nasir Hussain ). Kunver Samsher Singh ( Sujit Kumar ) is in love with Kamla and also wants to marry her. Kamla visits Kulu for a holiday and meets with an illetrate guy, Suraj Kumar aka Sarju ( Rajendra Kumar ). Sarju is also a melodious singer but living a poor lifestyle with his younger sister, Janki ( Kum Kum ). Kamla and Suraj falls in love each other and plans to get married. But before that Kamla wants Suraj to come to city.

Suraj alongwith Janki visits Kamla’s home. There Kamla ask him to join her on stage to sing a song. Soon the pair becomes a hit singing pair. Janki’s marraige is also arranged with a well settled guy, Ashok. Dindayal also announces Suraj and Kamla marraige to happen soon. But unfortunately Suraj meets with an accident and looses his vocal chord. Janki get married with Ashok and leaves that house. But after loosing his speaking ability, Suraj becomes a problem for Dindayal who does not want her daughter to marry a him now as he is not capable of singing any more. The very next day Dindayal is found dead and all suspects on Suraj?
