Bollywood action drama, Geraftaar, directed by Prayag Raj and written by Kadar Khan was released on September 13, 1985. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Poonam Dhillon in lead roles while Kamal Hassan, Madhavi, Rajnikant, Kadar Khan, Aruna Irani, Ranjeet, Om Shivpuri, Shakti Kapoor and Sharat Saxena also played significant characters in the film. The hit music of the movie was given by the well knwon music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Shabbir Kumar, Mohammed Aziz, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Karan Kumar Saxena ( Amitabh Bachchan ) was thrown out of the house by his mother in his childhood days as she considered him responsible for the death of her husband. However later she realized her mistake but fails to get Karan back as there was no clue of him. Years later, Karan’s younger brother, Kishen ( Kamal Hassan ), who is living alongwith her mother, is now a grown up guy. Kishen is a underplayed film actor who wants to make it big on the silver screen. Kishen always face opposition from his mother regarding his passion for acting.

Kishen then come across a beautiful girl named Anuradha ( Poonam Dhillon ) and instantly falls in love with her. He then changes himself and introduces Anuradha to her mother, who readily agrees for their relationship. But their life gets upturned and Kishen is arrested by police in a wrong charge. In Jail, Kishen meets with Karan and they reveals about their relationship. Karan has been charged with the murder of a guy named Vijay.
