Bollywood movie, Ghar Ka Chirag, directed by Sikander Bharti was released in the year 1989. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Neelam Kothari in lead roles while Arun Bakshi, Nafisa Sharma, Chunkey Pandey, Shafi Inamdar, Deepika, Rajan Haksar, Om Shivpuri and Tej Sapru also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the well knwon music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were rendered by Shabbir Kumar, Alka Yagnik, Mohammed Aziz etc.

The movie starts with a wealthy businessman named Kumar ( Rajesh Khanna ), who is living a happy live with his wife, Asha ( Deepika ). Asha gets pregnant and this give Kumar another reason to joy. But unfortunately Asha has a miscarriage. Asha dies in this shock leaving behind a devastated Kumar. Kumar takes alcohol in a big way. He then meets with a beautiful girl named Kiran ( Neelam Kothari ). Kiran becomes friendly with him and tells him about her boyfriend, Ravi ( Chunkey Pandey ), who studies in the same college she is studying.

Ravi takes part in the annual car rally but unfortunately meets with a severe accident. He is assumed to be killed in that accident. After some time, it is revealed that Ravi is still alive. Ravi get shocked to learn that Kiran is dead now. He then decides to never get married with anyone. He once again participate in the car rally and there he comes to know that Kiran is still alive and is now married to Kumar.
