Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam was an action and comedy film that was released on January 15, 1988. The movie was directed by Subhash Sainik and produced by Jairam Gulbani. The main roles in the movie were played by Govinda, Khushboo, Neelam Kothari and Reeta Bhaduri while the roles of Anupam Kher, Johny Lever, Satish Shah, Beena and Nivedita were also important. The music of the film was directed by Amar Utpal while the songs were sung by Anuradha Paudwal, Mohammed Aziz, Suresh Wadkar, Kishore Kumar Ganguly and Pankaj Udhas.

Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam was different movie with genre lying in action and comic sequence. The story of the movie revolves mostly around a guy named Amar ( Govinda ) who was required to stay in Srivastav’s residence while he was on a trip to the countryside. Soon Amar comes across their stubborn and modern daughter named Jaya ( Neelam Kothari ). This starts with sequence of comic misunderstandings but soon they realized that they have developed liking for each other.

Amar and Jaya started loving each other and one day both married to each other. Jaya moves in with Amar at his residence in Bombay, where she meets with their neighbours, Mr. Dharamchand ( Anupam Kher ) and his wife ( Reeta Bhaduri ). The twist in the story comes when Amar doubts Jaya of having an affair with the neighbor Dharamchand. Though he denied the fact but Dharamchand started making plans to break up the couple.
