The social family drama Ghar was released in the year of 1978 under the banner of Sippy Films. The movie was directed by Manick Chatterjee and produced by N N Sippy. The top roles in the movie were played by Vinod Mehra, Prema Narayan, Rekha and Asrani while the supporting roles in the movie were played by Asit Sen, Dinesh Thakur, Madan Puri, Shashi Kiran and C S Dube. The music of the film was directed by Basu Chakraborty while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle.

As the name of the movie Ghar suggests, the movie was a social cum family drama that revolved mostly around a man named Vikas Chandra ( Vinod Mehra ) who got married to a girl named Aarti ( Rekha ) recently and decided to shift to their new house. They both are in deep love with each other. The movie takes a turn when one day both decides to go and watch a movie in the theatre, the movie called “Loafer”. The movie was screened at night.

The movie finished at midnight and they were unable to find a taxi back to their home so they decided to walk to the home together. On their way back to home, they were attacked by group of four people who physically assault Vikas and kidnaps Aarti. When Vikas regains his senses he finds himself in hospital and with a wound on his head. He later comes to know that his wife Aarti was also there in the hospital after being gang raped.
