Gharwali Baharwali was also a comedy movie featuring Govinda in the lead and directed by David Dhawan who has earlier made several movies with him like Hero No. 1, Judwaa and Coolie No. 1. But to his disappointment, this movie didn’t do well. The movie was inspired from a Tamil movie that starred Bhagyaraj in the lead. The story of the movie is about Arun ( Anil Kapoor ) who is happily married to his wife Kajal ( Raveena Tandon ). Everything was fine until she comes to know that she can’t give birth to a baby.

Anil’s father Kadar Bhai ( Kadar Khan ) wanted that Arun should have a son so that his vast property remains in safe hands always. Arun had to go to Nepal for some work and come across a girl Manisha ( Rambha ) in some trouble. He helps her by rescuing her goat and the strange thing about the movie was that according to it, one who saves a girl’s goat should marry her. Knowing the consequences of not marrying a Nepalese girl, he agreed to marry her. Arun is now sandwiched between the two girls.

The songs of the movie are:
1.    Ek Taraf Hai Gharwali Ek Taraf Baharwali
2.    Ghunghat Mein Chehra
3.    Love Love Kar Le
4.    Nepal Ki Thandi Hawa
5.    Rub Jaane Bhai Rub Jaane
6.    Tara Raara Raara Ra
