Bollywood action drama, Ghulami, directed by J.P. Dutta was released in the year 1985. The movie starred Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborthy and Reena Roy in lead roles while Smita patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Anita raj, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Raza Murad, Avtar Gill, Bharat kapoor, Sulochana Latkar and Anita Raj also played significant characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were beautifully crooned by Lata Mangeshkar, Shabbir Kumar etc.

Ranjit Singh Choudhary ( Dharmendra ) has been announced as a rebel by his schoolmaster and his dad Bade Thakur ( Om Shivpuri ) in Fatehpur. Ranjit was in no mood to stand against the injustice of the Thakurs on farmers and their family and is therefore termed as a bandit. Corrupt police force also starts hunting him down everywhere. Bade Thakur’s daughter, Sumitra ( Smita Patil ), is the childhood sweetheart of Ranjit but is forced to marry DSP Sultan Singh ( Naseeruddin Shah ). On her wedding with Sultan Singh, a buffalo is slaughtered as a result the water of community well get poisioned causing several deaths in the village.

Sultan decides to capture Ranjit at any cost and get almost succeed in it. But Ranjit somehow manages to escape from there. Ranjit them makes a force of his own comprises of former havaldar, Gopi Dada ( Kulbhushan Kharbanda ) and and army men, Jabhar ( Mithun Chakraborthy ). They all wants to make farmers free of the injustice of Thakurs. But they also knows that this will definitely proved out to be a very difficult task for them. Sulatn has also decided to use his full power to arrest or kill these three bandits.
