Bollywood action thriller, Ghungroo Ki Awaaz, directed by Shyam Ramsey and written by Vijay Anand was released on September 29, 1981. The movie starred Vijay Anand and Rekha in lead roles while Dheeraj Kumar, Shreeram lagoo, Padma Khanna, Leela Mishra, Sunder Thapa, Iftekhar and Pinchoo Kapoor also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known music diorector Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Suresh Wadkar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Thakur Ranjit Singh ( Vijay Anand ), who brings a beautiful girl named Kajal ( Rekha ) as his wife in his house. However, his uncle, Jasbir Singh ( Shreeram Lagoo ) is not happy with this. But Vijay gets shocked to reveal that Kajal is meeting with a guy named Shakaal ( Dheeraj Kumar ) in secret. He suspects her for having an affair with Shakaal. Ranjit Singh then confronts Kajal for this which results in the between the two and he ends up killing her.

Jasbir Singh destroy all the evidence against Ranjit. But poroblem arises when Ranjit is haunted by the spirit of Kajal. A suspicious police officer also enters in the picture. Situation gets even worse when a nurse named Kiran ( who exactly looks like Kajal ) enters in the house for the care of Ranjit. Ranjit then falls in love with Kiran and decides to get married with her. What to happen next?
