Bollywood movie, Gopi, directed by A Bhimsingh was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu in lead roles while Om Prakas, Farida Jalal, Pran, Lalita Powar and Johnny Walker also played important roles in the film. The music of thefilm was given by the famous music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji and the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar and Mahendra Kapoor. The movie recieved good response from audience and went on to become one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with Gopiram aka Gopi ( Dilip Kumar ), who lives with his elder brother Giridhari ( Om Prakash ), his wife Parvati ( Nirupa Roy ) and younger daughter Nandini ( Farida Jalal ). Gopi is a kind hearted but trouble maker for his family members. Girdhari has saved some money at Lala ( Pran ) for the marriage of Nandini. But Lala is a cheat and he throws out Girdhari without giving him the money. Gopi then tries to get that money forcibly from Lala. In the return Lala accuses Girdhari for stealing the money from his home.

Girdhari then becomes strict and throws out Gopi from his home. Gopi alongwith his younger sister, nandini, leaves for the city. In city, Gopi starts working as a servant in a rich family. Soon he becomes a successful person. He also finds a guy for Nandini. He sends invitation to his bhaiya-bhabhi but does not get any reply from them. He finds out that Lala has also forced his love, Seema ( Saira banu ) to marry him. What will Gopi do now? Where is his bhaiya-bhabhi?
