Songs of Grahan
Grahan was a romantic movie released on February 16, 2001. The movie was directed by K Shashilal Nair and produced by Avinash Adik and Ayesha Shroff. The important roles in the movie were enacted by Jackie Shroff, Anupama Varma, Manisha Koirala and Achyut Potdar while the roles of Prasad Purandare and Raj Zutshi were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Kartik Raja and the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Dominique, Jolly Mukherjee and Abhijeet.
Grahan was actor Jackie Shroff’s home production who made his comeback to the film industry with this film after keeping quiet outside for a long time. The film is also special to the model-turned-actress Anupama Verma who is making her debut with this film and plays Jackie’s love interest. The movie was also a social movie along with being a romantic one. The backdrop of the movie includes a legal battle with political overtones.
The production of the movie was very slow and had been completed somehow after quite some times when it was thought to abandon the project. The story of the movie is about a rape victim who fights to get justice and about a man who helps her get that. A politician’s son sexually assaults Paro ( Manisha Koirala ) and gets free when he was helped by ace lawyer Jaggu ( Jackie Shroff ) who was tricked to believe that the accused was innocent. Later Jaggu helps Paro to get the justice from the court against the accused.
