The drama movie, Griha Pravesh was released on 28 July 1979.Basu Bhattacharya directed as well as produced the movie. The star cast of the movie included Sanjeev Kumar, Sharmila Tagore and Sarika while Danny Denzongpa, Gulzar and Sudha Chopra played the supporting roles. K.J. Yesudas and Chandrani Mukherjee sang the songs and Kanu Roy gave the music for the movie.

Amar ( Sanjeev Kumar ) and Mansi ( Sharmila Tagore ) are a newly married couple. They have an arranged marriage according to their parents will. Amar is a bookkeeper and is very cautious with money. He wishes to save money so that they could live as frugally as possible in their own new house. Soon, Mansi gets pregnant and gives birth to a baby boy, Bablu ( Master Bittoo ).Later, a young girl , Sapna ( Sarika ) joins Amar’s firm and is asked to share Amar’s cabin .

Initially, Amar is diverted by her charm and physical appeals. Amar without a second thought agrees to share his cabin with her. Soon, he gets attracted towards her. Sapna is also impressed with Amar and wishes to marry her. She asks Amar to get divorced. Amar discusses the matter with Mansi and she agrees to get divorced on the condition that he introduces Sapna to her and Amar agrees to do so. The movie shows the life of Mansi after losing her love in the hands of another beautiful woman.
