Songs of Gulami


Gulami was an action cum social film released on June 28, 1985 under the banner of Nadiadwala Sons. The movie was directed by J P Dutta. The main roles in the movie were played by Dharmendra, Anita Raaj, Mithun Chakraborty and Reena Roy while the presence of Smita Patil, Naseruddin Shah, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Bharat Kapoor, Mazhar Khan and Raza Murad supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Shabbir Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Manhar Udhas and Suresh Wadkar.

Gulami was an action movie also raising the social facts behind the audience. The story of the movie revolved mostly around a man named Ranjit Singh Choudhary ( Dharmendra ). He has always been interested in the fights and thus has been labeled a rebel by his father Bade Thakur and his school master. Bade Thakur was employed with Makhan but the main thing was that Ranjit was a true person who can’t see anyone receiving injustice from anyone.

Ranjit was moved by the destitution of the people and the slavery they were posed by the Thakurs. He thus leaves in hopes of doing something good but returned back home when his father passed away. He was told that his father had a huge debt which he should pay. Ranjit was beaten and was treated as a bandit when he decided to not to pay those. The movie takes a turn when Bade Thakur’s daughter, Sumitra ( Smita Patil ) whom Ranjit loved a lot, got married to someone else.
