Har Har Gange was a Mythological drama movie released in 1979. Babubhai Mistri directed while M Patel and Nitin Dhorda produced the movie. The star cast of the movie involved Ashish Kumar, Anjana and Neera while Vikram Gokhale, Sujata, Jayashree Gadkar, B M Vyas and Mohan Choti played the supporting roles. Manna Dey sang the song and Ravindra Jain gave the music for the movie.

Shiva ( Ashish Kumar ) segregates himself after the death of his wife , Sati ( Anjana ) and he engrosses himself in deep meditation. The demon, Taraka took disadvantage of the circumstances as he was prophesied to lose his life at the hands of Shiva’s son. Taraka stages an attack on Devalok, expelling the demigods. To triumph over evil and restore peace, Adishakti takes birth as Ganga and Uma, the daughters of Himavat ( Mohan Choti ), king of the mountains.

The elder sister, Ganga is brought to heaven while the younger sister, Uma commences hard austerities to break Shiva’s meditation and cause harm to the child prophesied to kill Taraka. Raised under the auspices of Brahma and blessed by the water that had once washed the feet of Vishnu, Ganga becomes a celestial river tracking the heavens, purifying anything she touches. The defeated Paap turns his sight to earth. There he ruins the land and its inhabitants alike, until Ganga descends upon the earth to wash away sin with her purifying water.
