Hathyaar was an action movie released on March 10, 1989. The movie was directed by J P Dutta and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. The lead roles in the movie were played by Dharmendra, Sangeeta Bijlani, Asha Parekh and Amrita Singh while Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, Shyam, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Satyajit Puri were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal.

The female lead in the film was enacted by Asha Parekh who acted in films like Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Aan Milo Sajna and Insaaf Ka Khoon among the rest while her first film was Aasman released in 1952.
