Bollywood suspense thriller, Hatya, directed by Kirti Kumar was released on June 3, 1988. The movie starred Govinda and Neelam in lead roles while Anupam Kher, Raj Kiran, Om Shivpuri, Rakesh Bedi and Johnny Lever also played important roles in the film. The msuic of the film was given by none other than famous music composer and singer, Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mohammed Aziz, Kirti Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee. The movie was a box office hit and proved out to be a boon for Govinda’s falling career at that time.

The movie starts with Sagar ( Govinda ), who finds a boy sleeping on the road. He learns that the boy is dumb and deaf. He takes him home and names him Raja. He starts teaching him simple words which he can understand and make other understands also. After few occasions, Sagar suspects that someone wants to kill that boy. Later he learns that the boy is the eye witness of her mother’s murder and therefore the killer wants to kill him too. Sagar decides to protect Raja anyhow and at any cost.

Sagar also meets with a beautiful girl named Sapna nath ( Neelam ), and falls in love with her. Meanwhile the killer plays a trick and frames Sagar in the murder of Raja’s mother. Sagar is arrested by Police and is torched to accept the crime. However, later it is revealed to police that Sagar is innocent. Inspector Ashok Gupta ( Raj Kiran ) suspects Surendra Mohan ( Anupam Kher ) for the murder of Raja’s mother. Meanwhile, Raja is kidnapped by someone from Sapna’s house.
