The social movie Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi was released on April 15, 2005 under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications. The movie was directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Rangita Pritish Nandy. The important roles in the film were played by Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Chitrangda Singh and Saurabh Shukla while significant roles were played by Aditya Bhattacharya and Yashpal Sharma. Music of the film was directed by Shantanu Moitra and the songs were sung by Shubha Mudgal, Swanand Kirkire, Ajay Jhingran and Shobha Joshi.

The movie Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi is a social movie that is based on the theme of politics. The storu of the movie revolves around Siddharth Tyabji ( Kay Kay Menon ), Vikram Malhotra ( Shiney Ahuja ) and Geeta Rao ( Chitrangda Singh ). Siddharth is the son of liberal parents; Geeta is the daughter of a scientist and Vikram is a simple guy from a small town. The three characters were studying in a famous Delhi college and it was a time when they are done with their graduation and were worrying about their futures.

The three characters were involved in a love triangle with Geeta loving Siddharth and Vikram loving her whereas Siddharth was in love with his politics. Siddharth was worried about the sad state of peasants in Bihar and this is why he decided to join Naxal movement. Geeta went to England for her advance studies. Their life changes after five years. Vikram is now a famous person and Geeta is a journalist unhappy with her husband. Vikram meets her at a party by chance and comes to know that she was going to a village to cover some news. Vikram follows her and finds that she is still having an affair with Siddharth.
