Former bollywood actress, Hema Malini, was born on October 16, 1948 in Tamil Nadu, India. She is married to veteran actor Dharmendra. They have two daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Esha Deol is also an actress by profession. Hema is also a member of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party. Hema made her acting debut in 1968 with the film Sapnon Ka Saudagar opposite Raj Kapoor. But her first hit film came in the form of Dev Anand starrer Jhonny Mera Naam. She eventually became a superstar after performing a double role in 1972 released Seeta Aur Geeta. Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar co-starred her in the film. She received Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in the film.

She got a nick name of ‘Dream Girl‘ after working in a film opposite Dharmendra with the same title. Her collaboration with Dharmendra in few films gave a hit pair to bollywood industry at that time. The duo did a number of hit movies like Jugnu, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay etc. Top bollywood stars like Sanjeev Kumar and Jeetendra were also after her but in the end she married Dharmendra. She then made a successful pair with Amitabh Bachchan and delivered a series of hit films in the form of Naseeb, Satte Pe Satta, Desh Premee, Nastik etc.

She took a small break from acting and tried her hand in directing. She made a superflop movie titled Dil Aashna Hai with Shahrukh Khan and Divya Bharti in lead. Hema then made a superb comeback in bollywood industry with Amitabh Bachchan in 2003 released Baghban and then in Yash Chopra’s Veer-Zaara. Both of the film did well at the box office. But her next venture with Big B in Baabul failed to impress audiences. She was last seen in a special apperance in Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee starrer Laga Chunari Mein Daag.
