Holi was a comic drama released in the year 1984 under the banner of Film Unit. The movie was directed by Dhanpat Mehta and Ketan Mehta. The movie was produced by Ketan Mehta and Pradeep. The main roles in the movie were played by Aamir Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Deepti Naval. Some nice roles were played by Shreeram Lagoo, Neeraj Vohra and Paresh Rawal. The music of the movie was given by Rajat Dholakia. The cinematography was done by Jehangir Chowdhary.

The movie presents how college life moulds students to face real life challenges. Madan Sharma ( Aamir Khan ) is a rusty boy, who has leadership qualities and was popular among all his mates . The college staff was being underpaid so they decide to go on a strike. One day Madan Sharma is surprised to see that there is no drinking water in the college. On the other hand there is a speech in the college on the day of Holi by the Chairman of the Board ( Shreeram Lagoo ) which was compulsory to attend which added to students frustration as on the day of holi they have been forced to come.

All this raises a fight in the college and the Principal’s ( Om Puri ) nephew is hurt. So, rude punishment is given to Madan and his friends. The news of principal’s cunningness spreads soon. To save his job the principal lays a trap for a student and succeeds in blackmailing him. The boys are ordered to leave the hostel though all are not guilty so they get frustrated and set the furniture of the college on fire. Ultimately a boy hangs himself and the police arrests Madan and his gang. They all are taken to police station. Will they be able to defend themselves?
