Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was a romantic comedy released on June 18, 1999. The movie was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Jhamu Sughand. The lead roles in the movie were played by Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Aishwarya Rai and Zohra Sehgal while Vikram Gokhale and Smita Jaykar were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Ismail Darbar and the songs were sung by Kumar Sanu, Ustad Sultan Khan, Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Shankar Mahadevan.

The movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who had done his best to put forward a good show after his not so famous movie Khamoshi. The story of the movie is about the joint family of classical singer Pandit Darbar ( Vikram Ghokle ), his wife ( Smita Jaykar ) and their beautiful and young daughter Nandini ( Aishwarya Rai ). The backdrop of the film is the huge mansion situated at Gujarat, where Samir ( Salman Khan ) who lives in Italy but wanted to learn classical singing comes on Diwali to learn from Pandit Darbar.

Samir is a cool guy who often talks to his father (by looking at the sky) who has died quite earlier. Slowly, Nandini and Samir fall in love but the twist was added when Vanraj ( Ajay Devgan ) sees her and also falls for her. Pandit Darbar always wanted a singer husband for his daughter Nandini and when he comes to know about her love with Samir, he decides to marry her with Vanraj. Soon Vanraj discovers that she was not very enthusiast about their wedding and then begins the quest of locating Samir.
