Kumar Gaurav and Padmini Kolhapure starrer romantic comedy Hum Hain Lajawaab was released on August 21, 1984. The movie was directed by Mohan Sehgal. The other starcast of the film includes Shakti Kapoor, Kamal Kapoor, Rakesh Bedi, Jagdish Raj, Yunus Parvez, Kalpana Iyer and Mohan Choti in important roles. The melodious hit music of the movie was directed by very famous music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Kavita Krishnamurty, Sapan Chakraborthy and Asha Bhonsle.

Thakur Pawan Kumar Singh ( Kumar Gaurav ) is the second son of a wealthy businessman. His elder brother, Thakur Amar singh ( Mayur ) was in love with a poor girl and therefore ran away from the house as it was very much clear to him that his father will aloow him to marry that girl. Pawan returns to his home after completing his studies. Pawan is the carbon copy of his father in every sense. Pawan learns that Amar has written an apology letter to his father.

He revelas that his brother and sister-in-law is no more alive now. He comes to know that his sister-in-law gave brith to a son, who is now in the custody of a her younger sister, Dilruba ( Padmini Kolhapure ). Pawan decides to bring the baby child home. He changes his identity and names himself, Aashiq. But in the process of getting his nephew back from Dilruba he evetually falls in love with her.
