Bollywood musical family drama, Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United, written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya was released in the year 1999. The movie starred Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles while Mohnish Behl, Sonali Bendre, Tabu, Neelam, Mahesh Thakur, Alok Nath, Rajeev verma, Sadashiv Amrappurkar, Reema Lagoo, Ajit Vachchani and Shakti Kapoor also played important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the music director Vijay Patil while the songs were crooned by Shankar Mahadevan, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Roop Kumar Rathod, Hema Sardesai etc.

The movie starts with a big famil headed by Ramkishen ( Alok Nath ) and his wife, Mamta ( Reema Lagoo ). Mamta is the second wife of Ramkishen, The eldest son, Vivek ( Mohnish Behl ) is a handicapped since birth and is from Ramkishen’s second wife. The other two sons, Prem ( Salman Khan ) and Vinod ( Saif Ali Khan ) and a daughter, Sangeeta ( Neelam ) is from second wife, Mamta. All theses three brothers understands each other very well. Sangeeta is married and is now living in her husband’s home. Vivek gets married to Sadhana ( Tabu ), who is the daughter of the friend of Ramkishen.

Prem and Vinod are romantically involved with Preeti ( Sonali Bendre ) and Sapna ( Karishma Kapoor ). Sangeeta’s husband’s elder brother throws him out of the house and this incident triggers insecurity in Mamta’s mind. She starts predicting that may be Vivek will also throw Prem and Vinod out of the house after their death. She decides to make Vivek leave the home and the business immediately. Vivek agrees to do so but Prem and Vinod denies to live in the home without Vivek.
