Bollywood romantic musical comedy flick, Humjoli, directed by Ramanna and written by Ramayan Tiwari was released in the year 1970. The movie starred Jeetendra and Leena Chandavarkar in lead roles while Pran, Nasir Hussain, Shashikala, Aruna Irani, Mehmood, Poornima, C. S. Dubey and Manmohan also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the none other than well knwon veteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Mohammed rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a simple minded guy named Rajesh ( Jeetendra ), who is always ready to help others. He meets with a beautiful girl named Ranibala Rai ( Leena Chandavarkar ), who lives in a hostel. After intial misunderstandings, both Rajesh and Ranibala soon falls in love with each other. They both decides to get married soon. Ranibala is the daughter of a wealthy guy named Gopal Nath ( Pran ). Rajesh belongs to a poor family and is therefore shunned by Gopal Nath for having a love affair with his daughter.

Gopal Nath brings Ranibala to home where her stepmother, Shyama ( Shashikala ) is all set to make her life miserable. One day, Ranibala reveals that her own father Gopal Nath is the murderer of her mother, Roopa. She learns that Gopal Nath got married to her mother only for her wealth. And after inheriting all her wealth, Gopal Nath murdered her brutally. Now Ranibala is determined to get revenge from her own father for the death of her mother.
