Songs of Ilaaka
Bollywood action thriller, Ilaaka, directed by Aziz Sejawal was released on April 19,1989. The movie starred Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles while Dharmendra, Amrita Singh, Bharat bushan, Mahesh Anand, Arun Bakshi, Suresh Bhagwat, Avtar Gill, Rakhee Gulzar, Amrish Puri, Om Puri and Jagdeep also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by the famous music director duo Nadeem-Shrawan while the songs were beautifully rendered by Amit Kumar, Mohammed Aziz, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie did average business at the box office.
The movie starts with Raja ( Mithun Chakraborty ), who lives in a slum named Puranti Basti. Raja is an alcoholic and well known gangster of the slum. Inspector Suraj Verma ( Sanjay Dutt ) get posted in the region of Purani Basti. Suraj learns that the entire basti is under the control of an influential and powerful gangster, Nagar ( Amrish Puri ). Suraj befriends Raja but soon becomes his enemy when he finds out that Raja’s father, Bheema ( Om Puri ), is the killer of his father, Inspector, Dharam Verma ( Dharmendra ).
The rivalry between Raja and Suraj makes it easy for Nagar to continue with his illegal works which he is doing from the sevaral years in Purani basti. Raja learns that Bheema is not his real father. But still Raja wants to save him from Suraj’s anger. But how far this neagtivity between Suraj and Raja will go on which is just making it easier for Nagar to perform his illegal operations in the basti.
