Bollywood movie, Inquilaab, directed by Rama Rao Tatineni and written by Kadar Khan was released on January 25, 1984. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi in lead roles while Utpal Dutt, Iftekhar, Shafi Inamdar, Satyendra Kapoor, Kadar Khan, Pinchoo Kapoor, Ranjeet, Viju Khote, Shakti Kapoor and Nirupa Roy also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was directed by the veteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie did well at the box office window.

The movie starts with a poor guy named Amar Nath ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who makes living by selling movies tickets. He comes under the wing of a politician and join the Police Academy. He then returns as a police inspector after completing his training. He meets with a beautiful girl named Asha ( Sridevi ) and falls in love with her. Asha is the daughter of a rich businessman named Sitaram ( Utpal Dutt ). Soon Amar achieve success and promotion because of his sincerity and work. Amar is promoted as the Assistant Comissioner of Police. She get married with Asha and soon she becomes prgnant with Amar’s child.

Amar kills a smuggler named Koya Attachi ( Shakti Kapoor ) and becomes popular among masses. Party leader Shankar Narayan ( Kadar Khan ) offers him the chair of the political party. Amar quits his police job and accepts his offer. It is then Asha learns that Amar is just a pawn in the hands of some politician. Amar is working just as the hitman of the politicians for completing their illegal tasks. What Asha will do now? Why Amar is working as a pawn for the policticians?
