Bollywood suspense thriller, Ittefaq, directed by Yash Chopra and written by Akhtar-Ul-Iman was released on October 4, 1969. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Nanda in lead roles while Madan Puri, Sujit Kumar, Iftekhar, Bindu, Jagdish Raj and Gajanan Jagirdar also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Dilip Roy ( Rajesh Khanna ), who is painter by profession and is living alongwith his wife named Sushma ( Alka ). Sushma is not happy with his passion about painting as she wants him to spend more time with her. One night, Dilip refuse to go with his wife in a party as he needs to complete his painting. An argument ensues between them and Dilip grabs Sushma by the neck as a result of which she dies. Police arrests Dilip in the charge of murdering his wife and is presented in the court. Dilip is sent for pschaitric evaluation but he manage to escape from there.

Now Dilip is on a run from police. He forcibly enters in a house where he finds a married women named Rekha ( Nanda ) alone. He decides to stay in the house for the time being. But he get shocked to see a dead body in the house which is actually of Rekha’s husband. Dilip reveals that the lady has killed her husband. But there is one more shock waiting for him which will change or may end his life.
