Bollywood drama flick, Jaago, directed by Mehul Kumar and written by K. K. Singh was released on February 6, 2004. The movie starred Manoj Bajpai and Hansika Motwani in lead roles while Sanjay Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Raju Shrestha, Ashok Beniwal, Manoj Joshi, Mushtaq Khan, Akhilendra Mishra and Puru Rajkumar also played important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the music director Sameer Sen while the songs were crooned by Udit Narayan etc.

Nine year old sweet girl, Shruti ( Hansika Motwani ) is the only daughter of Shriknat ( Sanjay Kapoor ) and Shweta ( Raveena Tandon ). She studies in a school in bandra. One day, she accidently get stranded in the school. Later watchmen learns about Shruti’s presence in the school and lets her out. He then drops her off at bandra Railway Station. She tries to contact her mother but fails. She then decides to board a local train in the ladies compartment. As it is too late in night so the compartment is nearly deserted.

Then three young guys enter in the train. They come and sit in the same compartment and lock the door. They all then performs gang rape with Shruti. The three guys then leave the train on the next station. A guy who was present in the compartment makes an anonymous call to police and Shruti’s parents. Shruti’s parents files a case in the police station and the case is assigned to the crime branch oficcer, Krupa Shankar Thakur ( Manoj Bajpai ). Shruti is traumatized and is not able to tell about the assailants.
