Jaan-E-Bahaar was a family drama flick released in 1979. Prakash Aggarwal produced as well as directed the movie .The key roles in the movie were enacted by Sachin, Sarika and Asrani while Jagdeep, Bhagwan and Lalita Pawar played the supporting roles. Kishore Kumar Ganguly sang the song and Gauhar Kanpuri gave the lyrics for the movie. Bappi Lahiri was the music director.

Kuku Rai ( Sarika ) is the only daughter of a rich businessman ( Pinchoo Kapoor ). She resides with her father and mother ( Indrani Mukherjee ),housewife. Her parents wanted her to wed a young man, Ajit who belonged to an equally affluent family. However, Kuku is not happy with her parents decision and elopes from the house .On her way, she is acquainted with a truck-driver named Gopal alias Gopi ( Sachin )and both of them fall in love with each other.

One day, Kuku finds herself captured in a shed and after a few months, her father releases her from the place. Her father informs her that Gopal had claimed a ransom of Rs.17, 000/- for her safe release. After her dreadful experience of romance with Gopi, she agrees to marry Ajit. However, the wedding ceremony does not take place that easily as she discovers that her guardians were not her biological parents .Instead they may have sired a young man who they decided to abandon years ago. The mystery remains unfolded about her marriage, her biological parents and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rai.
